This training is accepted and valuable in all 50 states. Some states have specific human trafficking training requirements for lodging and hospitality employees. If you’re in one of those states, visit our State Requirements page to confirm whether your state requires a state-approved program. If your state does not have a specific mandate, this training still provides your team with essential skills to recognize and respond to trafficking situations, and is increasingly expected by major hotel brands and franchise groups.
How often should my team complete this training?
Renewal requirements vary by state. Even where no specific renewal is mandated, best practice is to retrain staff annually and ensure all new hires complete the training during onboarding.
Do I receive a certificate?
Yes. Upon completing the course, you will receive a printable certificate issued by Serve It Up Safe that you can download from your account dashboard.
How long does the course take?

What happens after I purchase the course?
You’ll get immediate access. After completing your registration and payment, you can log in and start the course right away. You’ll also receive an email confirmation with your account details and a link to access your training.
Can I pause the course and come back later?
Yes. Your progress is saved automatically. You can close your browser and pick up exactly where you left off. You have 90 days from the date of purchase to complete the course.
Can I take the course on my phone?
Yes. The course is fully accessible on phones, tablets, and computers. No app download is required – just log in from any browser.
Are the quizzes difficult? What if I don’t pass?
The quizzes throughout the course are designed to reinforce what you’ve learned – they are not proctored exams. All section quizzes have unlimited retakes, so you can retry as many times as needed. The final assessment requires a passing score of 70% and has unlimited retakes, but most learners pass on their first attempt. The course material prepares you thoroughly – these are knowledge checks, not high-stakes exams.
How do I download my certificate?
Once you complete the course and final assessment, your certificate will be available for download directly from your account dashboard. You can access and reprint your certificate at any time. Note: This does not apply to Food Manager Training – that certificate is issued by ServSafe after passing the proctored exam.
